Presidents Letter summer of 2025

Presidents Letter summer of 2025

Hello wonderful Venice East Residents. I want to update you on a few things happening within the community.

Last week I went to a community meeting held for the following purpose. Unfortunately only 10 people were present which is why I am sharing this information to the best of my memory.

  • A cell tower for mobile phone service, Norfolk Island Pine Style, is proposed to be installed on Venice East Golf Course. It is suggested to be placed on the west side of the small pond facing State Route 41. There are at least two more community meetings which it is recommended that you attend and then a planning approval meeting and a county commission meeting. It is not finalized yet.

The need for a cell phone tower is requested by T-Mobile but will have access for three other cell phone providers too. The tower will be 124 feet tall, and will look like a tree with branches that hide the conductors. There will be generators at each corner of the base for each cell phone provider and it will be fed electricity independently from the residential grid. The overall golf course property is zoned residential but the cell tower, if approved, will be given special zoning and the small piece of land will be leased by the golf course. The golf course will remain green space.

I encourage all to follow our ONLY Facebook page: Venice East Community VECA (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61556417243292&mibextid=PlNXYD) for meeting information.

  • Next, the new VENICE EAST sign is installed and looks great. Phase one of our beautification upgrade is the placement of landscape boulders that complement the new sign perfectly. We want to complete the look with additional landscaping. We will pay for its installation but need help if you feel so inclined to donate towards the plantings. We want it to look like something we can really show off to all visitors to the community. Our property values are intrinsically wrapped around how the community displays itself and this is a way you and your neighbors can become involved. There will be donor recognition on the website as well.

  • The traffic lights at Venice East Boulevard and 41 mast arms are maintained by Sarasota County, but FDOT has informed us they will complete painting early in the new year.

Ditch (canal as the county calls it) grading is slowly being completed. Please use the 311 Connect app (https://www.scgov.net/government/communications/connect-with-us), call 311, or visit Sarasota County Connect With Us (https://www.scgov.net/government/communications/connect-with-us) to report your area if needed. If you don’t, then it will be at least September before it is completed. As a note, we’ve had a lot of rain—if your sewers aren’t keeping up, please call about them as well. A lot of them are full of grass clippings from people who blow the clippings into the street.

  • Finally, we have a meeting coming up in September with hopefully a very interesting speaker that I think you will all enjoy. Please be on the lookout for more information.

Keep our community beautiful. Be a voice, not an echo!

Sincerely,

Shanette Crume

VECA President
