April Letter

PRESIDENT’S LETTER

Greetings!
Thanks for taking the time to read this! If you’re new here welcome to the neighborhood, we hope to get to know you!

We had a successful community meeting on March 20th at the Jacaranda Library.

We had two speakers this evening and the event was live streamed by Jill our Media Director. This stream is available to VECA members in our private Facebook group.

Jayne Neville our first speaker is an ardent supporter of Florida Native Plants. She was a wealth of information on bringing native plants to our landscape, attracting wildlife and more. With planting season upon us it was the perfect presentation!

Officer C. Duff updates us on current crime in the neighborhood and this month of some scams a few have fallen victim to. We always look forward to her talks.

The lights at the entrance were in poor condition and were not enhancing our community at all so we had a few replaced to bring them up to working condition. One of our members Jim was responsible for getting our new Welcome to Venice East sign as drivers enter from the northern part of Venice East Boulevard. It looks very nice and professional.

The Gardening group is going to be enhancing this location around the sign soon.

Next month, for the May 15th meeting we will announce a guest speaker on our facebook page. I hope many of you will come out to the meeting to listen, ask questions and get to meet some more of your neighbors.

Please consider following our public neighborhood Facebook page VECA Venice East Community as it is the only one run by and monitored by board members who are able to answer questions for you if needed. You will be directly connected to it by hitting the Facebook icon right on this site.

Volunteers are needed for planning activities, games, food, entertainment etc and we can be creative on what you would like to do and where to meet. We know it’s early, however we’d love to have an amazing plan for our holiday party/membership drive celebration in November. If you’d like to help please reach out!

This is your community. Thank you for being part of it.

Shanette
